Talk Connecting nodes: a way of living projects

Reset Type Studio (UY), Auditorio UCU12.09 — 14:35–15:15

In this talk, Fer, Mati, Avril and Cami share how they live Reset and which lessons have been fundamental to founding and sustaining an independent studio dedicated to type design in Uruguay.

Through experiences and anecdotes, they open the doors of the studio to show the behind the scenes of some of their favorite projects. They talk about design processes, putting together quotes, building a team and the permanent coexistence of what we want and what we need. A conversation about how relationships and collaboration run through every decision and have been fundamental to the studio’s development.

More than a talk about type design, an invitation to exchange and reflect on what makes it possible to draw letters and make a living at the same time.

Reset Type Studio

Reset Type Studio is an independent type design studio based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Made up of Fernando Díaz, Matías Fernández Di Iorio, Avril Ponce de León and Camila Gómez, Reset specializes in designing and developing both its own typefaces for the studio catalog and custom projects, of varying scope, for clients in Uruguay and abroad.

Their work combines research, experimentation and careful attention to detail to create contemporary, functional typographic systems with an identity of their own. Reset Type Studio has worked for clients such as Pentagram, Porto Rocha, Google, Estudio Mundial and Atolón, among others. Their work has been awarded both regionally and internationally.
