Talk: The value of personal projects as a creative laboratory

Mora Vieytes (AR), Auditorio UCU12.09 — 20:00–20:40

How giving up the chase for perfection and playing again let me find a more authentic creative voice. The evolution of a visual style does not come from finding a perfect technique, but from daring to take in what makes us unique: our interests, our memories, the strange, what we hide for not being “good enough”, the processes and the experimentation.

For years I focused on perfecting my work as a 3D artist. But without realizing it, along the way I was leaving aside something fundamental: the enjoyment of creating and the value of the “not perfect”.

In this talk I will share how personal projects became the space where I could experiment again, mix disciplines, bring in memories from my childhood, explore nineties nostalgia and build a more honest visual language. A talk about creativity, identity and the importance of playing again in order to find a voice of your own.
