Poly, FROM10.09 — 18:00

In this talk, Poly walks through her career as an artist and graphic designer, exploring the conceptual pillars and the ways of working that run through her work.

Through her own work and that of different references, the talk takes on humor, the absurd, pleasure, popular culture and experimentation as ways of creating and of relating to the world.

From the intersection of art and design, with a strong grounding in drawing, Poly shares the different languages that coexist in her practice and a way of seeing shaped by play, the imperfect and the everyday.

The talk invites you to think about the creative process from a freer place, where not everything necessarily has to answer to an obvious meaning, a specific message or a function, and where there is also room to make something simply because it is interesting, fun or pleasurable.

Carolina Gil is a Uruguayan visual artist and graphic designer whose practice centers on drawing and expands into painting, collage, digital art, poetry and music. Her work deals with autobiographical experience from an intimate, cathartic perspective, exploring subjects such as mental health, contemporary digital culture, urban life and the tensions of late capitalism. Through a hyperpop aesthetic close to the naïf and the kitsch, she builds visual narratives that combine humor, vulnerability and critical observation.
